What is Thermage FLX?
Thermage FLX is the latest generation of Thermage treatments, commonly known as the gold-standard of non-surgical skin tightening and contouring treatments. It is a fast and comfortable method to restore your look to its youthful, rejuvenated state with little to no downtime.
What's new in FLX?
For those of you already familiar with Thermage, you may be wondering what improvements have been made to the latest FLX system. The benefits from using the latest technology include:
- 25% Faster treatments - tip size has been increased from 3.0cm^2 from 4.0cm^2
- Optimized energy delivery through AccuREP calibration technology
- Patient comfort - vibration elements are integrated with cooling blasts
How does Thermage FLX work?
Thermage FLX uses FDA approved, radio-frequency (RF) technologies to tighten and contour your face in a non-invasive manner. It achieves this by focusing RF energy onto target areas to kick-start the body's collagen renewal process. RF energy is used specifically as it can heat the deeper layers of the skin, promoting the maximum amount of collagen renewal. This renewal process will both remodel existing collagen and promote new collagen growth, which helps tighten sagging or loose skin. The results of this process will provide you with a renewed, firm and youthful complexion.
How is it different from other RF treatments?
In comparison to other RF treatments such as Fractional RF, Thermage FLX is a specialist tool that provides the best results for skin tightening and contouring. It's key differentiator is the use of monopolar RF whilst alternatives only use bipolar RF. Monopolar RF allows Thermage FLX to induce the greatest amounts of uniform heating to the deepest layers of the skin, something that cannot be matched by bipolar RF. As such, Thermage FLX is capable of producing the greatest amounts of collagen growth and renewal, which are directly associated with better and longer lasting results. Patients will typically only require Thermage treatments once or twice a year. Alternative RF treatments to Thermage will require more power and a greater number of sessions to yield similar outcomes.
Different Thermage tips and uses
Thermage treatments typically use one of three different applicative tips, each specialised to target specific treatment areas. It is important to do your own research so that you can identify the Thermage tips by their colours. These tips are not inter-changeable: e.g. an eye tip cannot be used for body or vice versa.
- Face Total Tip 4.0cm^2 - 300 reps, 600 reps, 900 reps - uses precise heating to address lines and wrinkles, 25% faster than the original 3.0cm^2 total tip
- Eye Tip 0.25cm^2 - 450 reps - uses precise shallow heating to address wrinkles around the periorbital area and/or the eyelid itself
- Body Tip 16cm^2 - 400 reps, 500 reps - offers vibration enhancement to help aid in patient comfort
Thermage tips are a consumable that are strictly limited for one-person use only, and should be thrown out at the end of your treatment. It should not be used for another person's treatment.
How to tell your Thermage treatment is authentic
Due to its high popularity, unfortunately there are a number of un-authentic copies of the original Thermage FLX technology. Your clinic should provide you a genuine Thermage certificate and evidence of the clinic being found in the official provider directory on the Thermage Website. At 99 Medispa we provide both the certificate of authenticity for our customers (provided in the following photos) as well as a listing on the official Thermage website.
Areas Thermage can target
Thermage FLX treatments are highly flexible and can be applied to different areas across the eyes, face and body.
What are the grids in Thermage?
If you've browsed images of Thermage treatments online you may have noticed a black grid marked on patients' during the treatment process. This grid is used to help us clinicians mark the areas for treatment and ensure that the RF energy is applied evenly across the targeted area. Post-treatment the grid is easily removed using an alcohol wipe.
Does it hurt?
Patients undergoing Thermage treatments will experience minor levels of discomfort. However, it should be noted that the latest Thermage FLX system is designed with patient comfort in mind, with the addition cooling blasts. It is also important to remember to communicate with your technician during treatment as pain tolerance is subjective and treatment intensity can be tailored to suit your personal preferences. Please also keep in mind that more power does not directly correlate with better results.
Is there any downtime?
Thermage treatments all have zero downtime. You can even go back to work afterwards. However, as with all treatments there may be unique side effects for some patients. If you experience any symptoms post-treatment we recommend you contact your clinic.
How long till you can see results?
Unlike other cosmetic treatments that require multiple sessions, Thermage FLX delivers immediate results from a single treatment. Even better is that results will continue to improve over time as the collagen renewal process continues. Bear in mind that results are dependent on the individual as the rate of collagen renewal may differ from person to person. Some people do receive immediate results from this treatment and if you are not one of those people, please do not worry as there are other treatments you can do right after Thermage to give you an immediate result while your body takes its time to renew and grow new collagen from Thermage.
How often is it done?
Thermage FLX treatment results are long lasting. Patients will typically require at most 1-2 treatments a year.
The typical price range of Thermage in Sydney for each area is estimated to be the following:
