Fotona Nd:YAG Laser Protocol
Twinlight Acne
Dual-Wavelength Laser
for Active Acne & Breakouts
Twinlight uses Nd:YAG and Er:YAG laser wavelengths together to target acne from two depths simultaneously — killing bacteria and reducing sebum production deep in the sebaceous gland, while improving skin texture at the surface. No needles. No downtime.
About Twinlight Acne
Twinlight Acne is a Fotona laser protocol that addresses active acne from two depths simultaneously using a dual-wavelength approach. The Nd:YAG (1064nm) wavelength penetrates deep into the dermis to target the sebaceous gland directly — killing Cutibacterium acnes bacteria within the follicle and thermally reducing gland activity. Reduced gland activity means less sebum, and less sebum means fewer future breakouts.
The Er:YAG (2940nm) component works at the surface level — refining skin texture, reducing post-acne redness, and accelerating the healing of existing breakouts. Together, the two wavelengths address both the cause of acne and its visible effects in a single treatment session.
Unlike topical treatments, Twinlight works below the skin surface — bypassing the epidermis to reach the gland where acne originates. And unlike oral antibiotics, it does not carry the risk of antibiotic resistance. It is a stand-alone in-clinic treatment, and for patients with a hormonal component to their acne, works best alongside appropriate medical management.
Nd:YAG — 1064nm
Deep Gland Targeting
Penetrates through the epidermis into the sebaceous gland. Kills C. acnes bacteria, reduces sebum production, and stimulates deep collagen — all without damaging the overlying skin.
Er:YAG — 2940nm
Surface Refinement
Treats the skin surface to reduce post-acne redness, improve texture, and accelerate healing of existing breakouts. Leaves the skin clearer and more even after each session.
How Twinlight Treats Acne
Bacteria Elimination
Nd:YAG thermal energy kills C. acnes bacteria living within blocked follicles — the trigger for inflammatory acne — without antibiotics or systemic side effects.
Sebum Reduction
Heat delivered to the sebaceous gland reduces its activity and sebum output. Less oil means fewer blocked pores and fewer future breakouts over successive sessions.
Skin Healing
Er:YAG refines the skin surface, reduces post-acne marks and redness, and stimulates collagen renewal — improving overall skin quality alongside clearing active acne.

Treatment Benefits
Targets the Root Cause
Works at the level of the sebaceous gland — where acne originates — rather than only treating the surface symptoms.
No Antibiotics, No Resistance
Kills bacteria through laser energy without oral or topical antibiotics, avoiding the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant acne strains.
Minimal Downtime
No peeling, no crusting, no recovery period. Mild redness may last a few hours. Most patients return to their day immediately.
